FRIT 7232 Organizational Chart
Summary for FRIT 7232 Organizational Chart
In FRIT 7232 Visionary Leadership in Instructional Technology, we were asked to creae an organizational chart of our school system's technology organization. Through the information I acquired from the Savannah-Chatham County Board, I was able to create this chart detailing our current Technology Department.
By completing this project, it helped acquaint me with our system's Technology Department setup and the various positions and responsibilities that are held by that department, and those within it. I was also able to see possible deficiencies in staffing for example. For example, with the amount of technology in our system, having more Instructional Technology Coaches may be more advantageous for effective support and training. This project really helped open my eyes to my own district, and what to look for when I am looking at other districts as well.
FRIT 7232 Technology Plan Evaluation
Summary for FRIT 7232 Technology Plan Evaluation
In FRIT 7232, we were asked to create a technology plan evaluation concerning a school that our group was teaching at. I found this to be an assignment that I learned a lot from, and it helped that we as a group could rely on each other's strengths. It also helped us clarify any misunderstandings we may have had when creating and completing the technology evaluation.
Developing the rubric and categories that were used to evaluate this plan was time consuming, but it truly helped me understand what to look for when looking at a technology plan, and deciding whether it is viable and lends itself to success, or if it does not help extend learning and the curriculum. Overall I had a great time with my group completing this.
FRIT 7233 Crowdsource Activity
Summary for FRIT 7233 Crowdsource Activity
As with the other infographics I have done, I found this assignment for FRIT 7233 to be fun, and educational for myself and hopefully for my target audience as well. This was meant to be a professional development on various Web 2.0 tools and how they can be used by students to achieve higher level's of thinking and engagement.
When creating this particular activity, I picked tools that I thought would benefit and interest students in the classroom, while culitvating higher-order thinking skills by asking them to extend their normal ways of interacting with subject matter. Using technology honestly to bridge the concrete and abstract.

Reflection on Standard 5: Professional Growth and Development
This whole program has prepared me and allowed me to excel in Professional Growth and Development. First, I have gained a much better understanding of technology, use of Web 2.0 tools, and how to implement these into the classroom to fulfill any needs or reinforce the curriculum for our sttudents. What has struck me is how important it is to fully diagnose any problems to be able to fully create a truly effective program or technology tool. Also, teaching these to others in a manner that is succinct and clear is vital. Otherwise, the technology may never the utilized, or if it is, not to its full potential. The artifact above, such as learing and training myself how to effectively evaluate technology plans, was vital for me in my career as an Instructional Technology and School Library Media Specialist. Without being able to recognize what requirements are needed for certain technology, budget requirements, and true need would be impossible without effectively creating and conducting a needs assessment. Only then, when the data is back, can a plan be made to develop training for both students and teachers that will be truly effective and meaningful for use. If needs are ignored, or development is not done, the programs will more than likely gather dust and never be utilized. This is a waste and a redundancy. Continuous development should always be utilized, to reinforce confidence, and lead users into other technologies and design plans.
